I worked with two UX designers, fully understanding business and user needs by analyzing competitors, conducting user research and creating persona. I am the lead designer for ideating the concept, designing wireframes and creating prototype. 

 

 

The Project Overview

Meetup is the world's largest network of local groups. It makes it easy for anyone to organize a local group or find one of the thousands already meeting up face-to-face. However, Meetup organizers are responsible for finding and booking space on their own. Likewise, venue owners either start and organize their own Meetups, or reach out separately to Meetup organizers to offer the usage of their space. Therefore, there's an opportunity for Meetup to create means through its website to increase the ability of Organizers and Venue Owners to find one another.

Research & Discovery

Competitive/Comparative Analysis

  • We compared the page elements and core features from potential competitors: venyooz, VenueBook, eventnook and eventup. 
  • We sketched out user flows and found inspirations from other competitors and additional websites as well. 

User Research

  • Received 41 responses from user survey
  • Conducted 14 in-depth user interviews (Includes event organizers and venue holders)

Take Aways

  • Both event organizers and venue holders want to find each other with similar interests
  • Both of them want native messaging features
  • Both of them want to have a clear venue description and a list of amenities
  • Organizers need suggestions with recommended venues
